Lots and lots of pics!!!
We left Cusco in no rush at all because it was cold and we really didn’t care if we made Puno or not. Puno would be our last stop in Peru. Yep its true Peru is almost done and time for Bolivia.
The roads were smooth and fast with some nice scenery all they way to the border. We stopped next to a scenic little river for some photos and Claudia made a new friend! I have never seen such a furry Donkey.
We took some other nice pictures around the river.
A little while after picture time Mirko unexpectedly hit the brakes and whipped a U-turn. He saw a guy next to a river drying hides and had been looking for a sheepskin cover for his seat. Next thing you know we are off to the guys’ house to look at his inventory.

And we all had to get pics with the famliy. Super nice people. I asked for pictures and the Mom had to make sure she had her hat. A very cool experience and we all ended up buying something. Mirko and Cluadia have new black sheepskin for happy asses in the cold weather of Bolivia.
After the big hide buying event we grabbed lunch and decided to push onto Puno knowing that we would be cutting is close to dark. Made it in a little after dark but was worth the push for 2 nights in Puno. Up early for breakfast and the floating islands tomorrow.
The islands are as everyone says extremely touristy but I still think that it is worth the trip. The way of life, history to it and how the islands are constructed are fascinating.
The guide did a good job explaining it all.
The germans looking very engaged.
Some shots of the island life
I just played with this cool little kid and acted busy while other tourists were given the hard sell on the crafts.
There is a bit of shaming that goes in an attempt to get us gringos to buy gifts or take the boat ride. We opted for the boat ride and made a new little friend. He was all smiles and had a great laugh.
Just like the boat we took.
And our new friend who was happy as coupld be playing with a deflated ball and messing with gringos. Something to be said for the simple things.
He kept blowing up the ball and then I would deflate it spraying the air on him. It was hilarious.
Oh yeah then I pretended to throw over the side. Funny in Peru maybe not funny in the states?
Another great day on the road experiencing something very unique with some new friends. It was a very cool day. Lots of laughs for everone. If this doesn’t make you smile then what will? A video link, hope it works.
A nice high note to leave Peru on!!
